About this course
An intensive course on how conveyors operate and how their various components are designed. Features include a thorough understanding of all the components of a conveyor, solving common problems, avoiding pitfalls, idler and pulley selection, catalogue selection of motors, reducers, and couplings with the main emphasis on the design of the conveyor system. Calculations to determine the belt tension and power requirements and the belt class for the application as well as the belt tensioning system criteria are also extensively covered.
Young engineers and technicians entering the bulk materials handling industry, or personnel already employed in the industry who wish to move their career up a gear, estimators, cost engineers and other project management personnel, and anyone wishing to improve their knowledge of the bulk materials handling industry with specific reference to belt conveyors would benefit.
Candidates receive a manual of the training material that may be used both during the examination and later as a reference in their daily work. The open-book examination is written on the last day of the training course, under the supervision of an invigilator. Candidates who achieve 70% and more in the written examination will receive a Diploma as a mark of their competency.
