Course in Chute Design

About this course

This three-day course is held in conjunction with CMMS at WITS and is presented by leading Australian and South African practitioners in chute design. Calculation of bulk materials trajectories, velocities and pressures, interpreting the comprehensive bulk solids report and applying results to equipment design, single particle analysis, shear properties, aspects of material properties and flow tests are all covered.

Enrolment for and attendance of the three days of theory at WITS entitles the candidate to register with the CMA to write an assignment and examination. A CMA certificate of competency is issued to candidates who pass both the assignment and the written examination. There is a separate fee for the assignment and examination, and forms and costs are on the website.
